Matthew was able to cut out some more pieces for the chassis Tuesday the 13th. With this process, we were able to receive a pair of weights that will help with testing our motors. There is still no real progress in the actual assembly of the cart. After speaking to our advisor, a meeting has been set up between our advisor and Matthew. The supervisor and advisor for Matthew in this project will be spoken to, to determine what has been the issue with the progression of this project and to make sure it is finished correctly. After speaking with our advisor, Matthew sent out an to our team email only stating that we had a new manufacturing contact and that person’s name. There was no explanation in this email and our advisor was not informed of this change either.

We were able to put the cords and adapters needed for our motor controller on order. There is no expected delivery date for these items but it is assume they will arrive quickly. Once these items are received, we will be able to test the motor controller very efficiently. These adapters allow us to use any method of commanding the motor we may want to use. This would not have been possible without these adapters. This will be an essential task at the moment. If there is appropriate coding to control the motors ahead of the chassis being built, it will not be hard to adjust this code to work for the cart.

There has also been a concrete decision made for the battery charging system. We will be buying a Battery Tender that charges at 12 volts and has 2 banks to be able to charge two batteries at the same time. A single 24 volt charger would not work because it would not account for the possibility of one battery not being at the same charge holding capacity of the other battery. This will be ordered when the chassis is closer to being finished. The site that this part will be ordered from is very reliable and quick because of a plant being in close proximity to the Georgia Southern campus. The delay in the ordering of this part is in concern for the assembly of the chassis. With the project changing hands, it would be very unfortunate to need to use the budget to correct unforseen mistakes or mishaps.
