Autonomous Shadowing Mobile Robot

PROJECT SUMMARY

The Autonomous Shadowing Mobile Robot, or MULE (Mobile Unit for Load Extraction) will follow a person at a specified distance by tracking a color signature via an image sensor. Using two types of sensors, this vehicle has collision avoidance, obstacle sensing, and image tracking capabilities. The robot has a steel base and is 2 by 3 feet. It is capable to handling loads up to 500 lbs or 225 kg. It is helpful in environments with standard doorways or small maneuverable space where a forklift couldn’t be used. The MULE’s mechanical design is capable of operating safely in several environments, including commercial, industrial, or agricultural.
